Later it was incorporated into a 10,000 watt RCA transmitter and was finally retired in 1978. It started out on Healy Heights in a garage on top of wooden pallets (the antenna was on a 50’ tower behind the garage). It covered 188 square miles with 10 watts. KBOO's current transmitter operates at 10,000 watts from the Stonehenge tower, covering 5,144 square miles.
